If you’re looking to be up with the latest trend, go ahead and swap those basic black, charcoal, navy or brown stockings for a tight that has texture or pattern.

Here’s what you’ll see in stores this winter and, more important, how to maximize the look.

* Vertical Ribbing is very popular; it not only draws attention to your legs but also has a slimming effect.

* Fishnets are a great option if you’ve got legs you want to show off. You might also consider Fencenet stockings, which have a wider mesh–something only ample legs can handle.

* Subtle, geometric designs may flatter too if they are monochromatic and vertically oriented; a small repeating chevron pattern in muted tones, for example, has the same effect as vertical stripes.
